William and Mary
"Wilton Armetale turned to a 17th century Parisian silversmith, Pierre Prevost, for the inspiration for the William & Mary™ series. In 1670 Mr. Prevost designed and produced a silver with gold gilt floral design that he combined with the coat-of-arms of William III and Queen Mary to grace a collection of personal care items for the Queen. Although the William & Mary series does not contain the coat-of-arms, it does follow closely in adaptation, the bold and complex scrolls and acanthus leaves and flowers of the original design. Though strongly Baroque, the design is at home in Classic, Baroque, Rococo and Traditional styling environments and makes a bold statement for decorative or practical use." |
